Welcome to Touch of Class Consignment's
first seasonal newsletter. My intentions are to
have informative and fun articles for my
consigners and customers. I hope you find the
information useful!!
Time to revamp
your closets for spring!!
It's that
time again where we have to take a day to change
over our clothes from one season to the other. I
thought it would be appropriate to insert some
helpful hints here for everyone. In order to care
for our clothes garments should always be cleaned
before storage. Many foods and beverages leave
yellow stains behind as they age. Stains can also
attract insects that may damage the fabric while
feeding on the stain...ugh!. Either launder or dry
clean all clothing prior to storage. Use only
appropriate laundry detergents for washing. Avoid
using soap, chlorine bleach, starch, garment
sizing, or fabric softeners. Rinse all washed
garments thoroughly. If some items require the use
of a fabric softener before wearing again, wait
until the garments are unpacked at the end of
seasonal storage. You can put them through a rinse
or dry cycle with the added fabric softener prior
to returning the items to use. Avoid storage space
where garments can be exposed to potential
problems, like the heat of an attic, moisture of a
basement, or the grease and fumes of a garage. Any
storage area should be cleaned and vacuumed before
storing clothes. Do not allow the stored items
exposure to sunlight or artificial light, which
can cause some dyes to fade or yellow.
Do not use
plastic bags for storing clothes.
The plastic prevents air circulation, and allows
moisture to collect and mildew may form....thus
causing the article to have mold spores and that
dreaded musty smell. It´s important to allow all
fabrics to breathe. Use packing materials that
also breathe, like white tissue paper or clean
sheets/pillow cases. Suitcases make great
temporary storage containers. By placing folded
items inside pillowcases or sheets, they can be
easily removed when the suitcases are needed for
travel. For flat storage, fold as little as
necessary, and fold on seams as much as possible.
Don´t overstuff your storage container. If storage
space at home is insufficient, talk to your local
dry cleaner. Some companies offer seasonal garment
storage.
Digging for Gold
& Sterling!
As a woman who loves
jewelry and nice things, I know that a good many
of you like it too. Did you know that I buy your
unwanted, mis-matched earring(s), kinked chains,
rings, pins and watches in gold and sterling? Not
only do I look for jewelry but sterling pieces,
antique pottery and more. So make it a point when
you change over your clothes to do some spring
cleaning in your jewelry box ....and who knows you
might find a gold mine just waiting to be mined.
With the money you make from your old unwanted
pieces you can put it toward your vacation this
summer or purchase new pieces to replace them.
Call to make an appointment or just bring them
with you the next time you visit.
In House
Parties
Did you
Know?.... To make things more fun, Touch
of Class also has private clothing and jewelry
parties. Big discounts and private shopping make
this a fun and intimate experience for friends,
families and professional groups. We do the
writing of the invitations, you send them out
either via email, mail or handout. We provide the
wine, you bring the cheese and crackers. What you
receive is $25 plus 10% of the sales from your
friends to use toward your purchases....or if you
like you can send it as a donation to your
favorite charity. This is a great way to have a
night out with your friends......or to have a
fundraiser. If you would like to book a date or
more information give us a call.
